C-Reactive Protein Level as an Inflammatory Marker in Patients with Preeclampsia
نویسنده
چکیده
Objective: The objective of this study was to compare plasma concentrations of C-reactive protein between pregnant patients with preeclampsia and subjects with uncomplicated pregnancy. Subjects and Methods: We conducted a case-control study of 60 nulliparous women without preexisting medical complications. In this study, 30 patients with preeclampsia and 30 women with uncomplicated pregnancy were enrolled. Maternal venous plasma samples were collected before delivery for estimation of C-reactive protein levels. Results: The mean concentration of C-reactive protein was significantly higher in preeclamptic patients than in the control group. There was a significant positive correlation between C-reactive protein levels and both systolic and diastolic blood pressures. The receiver operator characteristics curve showed that the best cutoff value for C-reactive protein concentration for diagnosis of preeclampsia was 6mg/L. Conclusion: C-reactive protein is significantly elevated during preeclampsia and is positively correlated with the severity of hypertension.

Comparison of Serum Level and IL-18 Gene Expression and Reactive Protein in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes with Metabolic Syndrome and Healthy People
Introduction: Metabolic syndrome is a common clinical anomaly, with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors. Increased inflammatory mediators, such as reactive protein,as well as the inflammatory cytokines can be associated with the incidence and progression of metaboli syndrome and type 2 diabetes. Materials & Methods: This study was performed on 35 m...
متن کاملRelationship between High-Density Lipoprotein and C-reactive Protein in Patients with Atherosclerosis
Abstract Background and Objective: Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease mostly caused by oxidation of low density lipoproteins (LDLs) while High-density lipoproteins (HDLs) oppose atherosclerosis by inhibiting the oxidation of LDLs. Serum concentration of C- reactive protein (CRP) also increases as an acute phase protein in inflammatory conditions like atherosclerosis. We aimed to evalu...
متن کاملC-reactive protein and other markers of inflammation in hemodialysis patients
Background: Hemodialysis patients are at greater risk of cardiovascular disease. Higher than expected cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in this population has been attributed to dislipidemia as well as inflammation. The causes of inflammation in hemodialysis patients are multifactorial. Several markers were used for the detection of inflammatory reaction in patients with chronic renal dise...
متن کاملRelationships of Serum Level of High- Sensitivity C- Reactive Protein (hs- CRP) and White Blood Cell (WBC) Count with Gamma- Glutamyltransferase among Iranian Healthy Adults
Background & Objective: There are many common infections and inflammations among people over the world. This demands an affordable and reliable test with high sensitivity/specificity to predict or confirm the diagnosis of such cases in routinely clinical practice. In the present study, we aimed to find any potential correlation between serum levels of GGT and CRP- Q and/or hs- CRP and ...
متن کاملEvaluation of preoperative elevation of serum c-reactive protein as an indicator for prognosis of colorectal cancer
Abstract Background : Cancer has not been elucidated in colerectal site. C-reactive protein (CRP) is a product synthesized in hepatocytes and has been reported to be up-regulated by such proinflammatory cytokines as interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor (TNF). The significance of a preoperative serum elevation was evaluated using CRP as a predictive i...
